Yoga Practice: 100 hours:
Instruction in Hatha, Tantra, Yantra, Prana, Kundalini  and atman yoga and Mindfulness Meditation. The basic yoga poses and yoga styles will be explained and demonstrated. Each style will be demonstrated with sequenced yoga poses. Students will demonstrate their understanding of the yoga poses and the various styles by teaching a sequence of each style. Proper alignment and appropriate ways to modify yoga postures . Students will demonstrate their understanding of alignment and how to modify poses by demonstrating the basic yoga poses with appropriate cues for teaching proper alignment and using modification. Students will study and understand cautions to take when teaching each pose and the benefits and effects of each pose on the mind and body. The concepts and fundamentals of Mindfulness Meditation based on the technique of Guru Made Sumantra will be explained and practiced in class. Students will have a daily Mindfulness Meditation session to calm and stabilize the mind.

Teaching Methodology: 25 hours:
Based on sound educational philosophy and pedagogy and Guru Made,s 20 years of teaching experience, students will learn to set learning objectives for each class;  how to motivate students using positive reinforcement; how to create a “safe” learning environment; how to differentiate each class for various learning styles in a multi ability classroom and how to motivate students to reach their full potential by building self esteem and confidence when teaching and correcting postures. Emphasis will be placed on how to differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of all students in a mixed ability class making yoga accessible for every body.  We will look at sequencing and how to plan a yoga class with appropriate warm up, sequencing, cool down and savasana for Every Body.

Anatomy & Physiology: 20 hours:
Students will study the basics of their musculoskeletal system. The key anatomic structures will be studied as they relate to yoga. Knowledge of these structures will be applied to optimize yoga practice and avoid injuries. Students will learn the benefits of yoga and study the interplay between the skeletal, endocrine, and excretory systems which affect the parathyroid gland, kidneys, intestines, skin, liver and bones. A study of fundamental bones, the axial and appendicular skeletons, the shoulder girdle and pelvic girdle and the vertebral column will be studied. The joints, ligaments, muscles and tendons will also be covered. The six basic movements of the body will be studied and demonstrated with various yoga poses.  A breakdown of the basic yoga poses focusing on anatomy and the effects of each pose on various parts of the body will be demonstrated and then explained in a demonstration by the students.  Students will also study how yoga poses improve the functioning of the respiratory, circulatory, digestive and hormonal systems and activate glands and vital organs by supplying fresh blood to the brain making it alert but relaxed.

Yoga Philosophy: 30 hours: Sadanga Yoga ,  Markandeya Purana, Aims, Philosophy, Meaning of Yoga, Chakras
The philosophy of yoga is that yoga is the union of the individual self with the universal self. Students will study the basic philosophy of yoga focusing on the primary aim of yoga which is to restore the mind to simplicity and peace and free it from confusion and stress. Thus, the goal of yoga is harmony between the body and the mind. Yoga philosophy includes the understanding that yoga postures strengthen bones and muscles, correct posture, improve breathing, and increase energy and it is this physical well being that strengthens and calms the mind. Asanas are one of the major tools of yoga and help the student to develop physically and spiritually. Yogic philosophy looks at the body as being made up of three layers ( causal body, subtle body and gross body) and five sheaths (anatomical, life force, psychological, intellectual, sheath of bliss) which will be studied.  To better understand this philosophy, students will study the Sadanga yoga and Markandeya Purana which explain that the aim of yoga is to calm the mind and that only yoga disciplines the mind, emotions, intellect and reason.  Students will also study the 6 limbs of yoga including explanation and discussion of the Dasa Sila, asanas, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana , Tarka, dhyana and samadhi. The ethical principles and ethical practices will be addressed by studying the Dasa Sila. We will also examine the role of the seven main chakras located in the spinal column.

Practicum: 10 hours:
Through assisting in regular yoga classes at the De Mantra Ubud students will demonstrate their understanding of alignment, modifications with required written feedback after each class. Students will also demonstrate their understanding of how to sequence yoga poses with proper alignment and modifications by  practice teaching in pairs and small groups.
